Tunisian Hook Tester

I will be receiving a package. What's in it? A Tunisian crochet hook! :) I am testing it out for a company that just recently started making them, from what I understand. I would love, love, love if I could do this all of the time. People can send me free hooks all the time and I would gladly try them out and report on my findings and feelings.

I'm quite excited to try it out. I have a variety of these types of hooks, so I'm wondering how it's all going to work out. :D

Crafting For The Homeless

Here in the area I live, we are near a major city and there are a lot of homeless people. It's quite sad and whenever I have to go downtown, I see them on the sidewalks and it just breaks my heart. In Cincinnati and the surrounding area, there are a lot of homeless shelters and things like that. I've decided that I'm going to make some scarves and hats since those are super quick for me to do and I'm going to take them there and give them away. The only problem with that...is that I am going to need a ton of yarn.

I don't know where I'm going to get all this yarn on my very limited budget. I have some yarn in my stash that I will use. I don't mind getting rid of that. I have a few ongoing projects that I can't take that yarn away, but pretty much everything else I have is fair game. I figure that will be worth maybe 3 scarves and hats each. I recently had done a big de-stashing project.

I found some freecycle type places where I asked. I just wonder if people will be cautious because some people would probably ask for things and then not do them. I've been burned with something like that before. I am not going through any kind of set up charity. This is just something I wanted to do on my own.

Ravelry and My Craft Books

Ravelry.com has a place where you can list the books that you have. The thing is I have a lot. I currently have 70 in my list and I'm so not even half way through. I didn't buy all of those books actually. I had a very generous person gift me tons of books and patterns and all things crafty. A lot of the books are related to knitting. I am not that great at knitting, but I'm working on it, lol. Most of the pattern books seem quite hard to me, but I'm sure that's just because I'm inexperienced and am so used to crocheting. :)

I finished a scarf in less than a day. That is not the first time I've finished a project that quickly, but it's the first time in a long time. I am trying to keep my number of current projects down. I am thinking 3 will be my limit. Of course I have tons of things that I want to make, though. And when I look through my craft books...I only find more, haha.

Christmas Project - Pretty Pink Scarf COMPLETED!

I finished my scarf a few days ago! I think it's adorable and Alexis is going to love it! I'm going to wrap it up soon as right now it's sitting completed on the table, haha.

My New Crochet Book

This was delivered to me yesterday. My boyfriend ordered it for me as a surprise! How unexpected! So a big shout out to him!

I know there is a bit of controversy surrounding this book and Debbie Stoller herself, but there are a few patterns in this book that are just adorable and I can't wait to make them!

I have quite a few pattern books and other books for both knitting and crocheting. I have a ton of pdf files on my computer as well. I'm going to be burning those off soon and put them on data DVDs so I won't have to take up all that space, lol.

The only problem I have now is that I need yarn. Lots and lots of yarn. I want some great quality yarn, but I'm having a hard time finding some that is affordable. I don't mind paying for quality, but I think that sometimes the prices are way higher than they should be.

Tomorrow, I'm going to head over to Joann's and get some yarn for some of the Christmas projects I have left and maybe a couple of skeins for myself as well. I just need to figure out what amount I want to spend.

Update 2 on Mom's Afghan

After thinking about the fact that the afghan I would be making for my mom would be quite simplistic, I decided to come up with something a bit more artistic! This is just a rendering, so it's not exact. The colors are a little off as well, but I came up with this quickly in Paint, so whatever. :)

I think once I get a bit more time, I will actually write down the pattern in case I want to replicate it. Luckily, since I'm using the tunisian crochet, it's really easy to count how many stitches I've made. :)

Christmas Project - Pretty Pink Scarf

I really love my Knifty Knitter! I'm making this scarf with it. Isn't it pretty? I love the color! Too bad I'm making this for a gift instead of for myself. I have more of this yarn though. I tend to buy at least 2 skeins of yarn even if I'm only making a scarf. :)

This one is being made for the daughter of a friend so it won't be as long as I would normally make it. She really loved the yarn when she saw it and pink is her favorite color, so that's what she's getting for Christmas! Shh...don't tell her, haha.

I want to apologize for the pillows as props that I've been doing in the last few pictures. I was on the couch when I took those pictures and if I didn't prop them up on something, you couldn't really see them. :) I should soon be rectifying that because I'm going to make a setup to take these kinds of pictures.
